For the last two years I have been working with colleagues to build and test a new data modelling and AI technology to predict risk in organisations. It is some of the most exciting work I have ever done.
For at least the last decade of my career I have been working on methodologies to monitor and even predict organisational performance, especially in the public sector. In the main, this has taken the form of qualitative and historical research to understand how power is exercised in such bodies and the kinds of working cultures it produces. Then, drawing on a theoretical insight into the nature of postcolonial societies that emphasised the importance of temporality in the functioning of organisations, we realised that changes in the temporality of an organisation provided an excellent proxy for performance. The best part was finding a mathematics that could describe and even predict such changes given certain kinds of data. The methodology has been written up and will be published shortly.
In the meantime, I present the new SafePassage website. The technology is the first of its kind.
